Something that's gotten people all shook up about the new Fantastic Four is the rumour that nobody will be wearing costumes. Nada. But they're superheroes, aren't they? Well, sort of. Whilst The Fantastic Four were, technically, Marvel's first successful superhero book, they're not really superheroes. They're more sci-fi characters who go on wacky adventures rather than crime-fighters. Fox are going for a more grounded version of the characters (as grounded as a guy made of rocks and another on fire can get, at least), so it stands to reason the costumes would be one of the first things to go. Which isn't surprising, since they did the same with the first X-Men film's black leather ensembles, with winking derisive reference to yellow spandex. Based on the early set photo of Michael B Jordan that just got released, along with some leaked concept art that's been doing the rounds over the past couple of days, this new Fantastic Four will spend at least part of the film in utilitarian black jumpsuits.
