Based on the rumours about a more grounded Fantastic Four, it's probably safe to assume that their origin story won't involve young Reed Richards jetting his BFF, girlfriend and her brother into space on an unauthorised mission, getting bombarded with cosmic rays, and then crashing back to Earth having been imbued with special powers. Instead, it seems like the new film will go with the origin seen in the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic. The Ultimate line was Marvel's attempt to bring new readers in, by bringing their big characters into the modern day with updated origins and stories. It was pretty great. And the Ultimate FF's origin was written by Mark Millar, who's a consultant to Fox. In that origin, they get their powers thanks to an experiment of Reed's gone wrong, where they attempt to visit the Negative Zone, an antimatter universe just outside or own. Slightly more grounded, remember.
