The Flash: 10 Ways Ben Affleck's Batman Could Be Written Out Of The DCEU
8. Another Hero Takes Over The Mantle
In The Dark Knight Rises, Bruce Wayne gave up being Batman, passed the mantle on to someone else, and retired to live his life in peace with Selina Kyle. Could this version of the character get a similarly happy ending and retire from a life of fighting crime?
While it's likely the "new" DC Extended Universe will see Michael Keaton serve as its Batman, Affleck's version - in the previous timeline - could pass his mantle on to a hero like Nightwing...who may already exist in this shared world or is created by the Flash's action. This replacement hero could even be Terry McGinnis, someone Bruce decides would be a fitting Batman for a Gotham City without him.
If Affleck's Bruce is the one who somehow sets the stage for a new, younger Batman before disappearing or retiring, Keaton's Caped Crusader may be inspired to follow in his footsteps, tracking down the Terry in his world, and giving fans the Batman Beyond movie they so desperately want.
With the Multiverse now a thing in the DCEU, we could have Nightwing in the old timeline for a spinoff film or HBO Max series, and Terry McGinnis in the new DCEU tineline.
