The Gods are cast for CLASH OF THE TITANS!

Speaking from a career point of view (and I'm not being insensitive, what happened to Liam Neeson last month was a travesty and I can't imagine what he is going through right now), but as we are a film site, we study his career and from a personal point of view as a film fan, the tragedy came just as Neeson was getting his career back on track. His role in Taken had shown that he was still bankable and that he was no longer pandering and wasting his time waiting for Spielberg to make Lincoln with him. He decided to move on and find some challenging roles for himself, making himself interesting for the first time in four years. Now Variety's wording is unclear this morning, so I'm not sure if this deal for Neeson came before last month or not, but this is a sign of where his career was heading before tragedy hit in March. The trades say he is/or was in talks for the role of Zeus in Louis Letterier's remake of Clash of the Titans. nlnlnl In the original 1981 movie, Zeus transforms the villain Calibos into a hideous monster who is cast away to live as an outsider in the swamps, and sets of the course of the movie. AICN speculate that the role of Calibos will be used in this movie by Hades, with Ralph Fiennes in final talks for the role. Hades wasn't in the 1981 movie and as Calibos hasn't been discussed as a character, it's an easy conclusion to come to. fiennes-hades Fiennes is set to play a huge part as Voldemort in the final Harry Potter movie, set to film in the role. It's said Fiennes has a huge role as a blockbuster villain and it's that commitment, along with roles in the new Ricky Gervais movie, the Nanny McPhee sequel and his directorial debut with Shakespeare's Coriolanus, the latter he is still trying to get financial backing for. Cast is shaping up pretty well. Sam Worthington leads as Perseus, Gemma Arterton the Princess Andromeda, Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davlos, and if talks go well Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson.
