The Hangover Part 3: 5 Reasons It's Hard To Be Optimistic

3. It Looks Too Action Orientated

Hangover 3 It may just be the way the trailer is presented but the film seems to be way too focused on action sequences. There€™s a huge amount of gunplay in the trailer, a man getting shot dead and falling into a swimming pool, and large scale scenes that seem to be set in an overcrowded prison. This really isn€™t standard fare for a 15-rated comedy. If you look back to the first film, there was some action such as the tiger in the car sequence and the exchange with Mr Chow€™s gang. But it was comedically driven action. The tiger in the car sequence was all about how insane the circumstances were and the exchange with Chow was a lead-up to accidentally getting Alan€™s drug dealer in exchange for the money instead of Doug. Obviously the action in this film could be comedically driven (it€™s hard to tell from the trailer) but I very much doubt that there€™s a way to get some comedy in the style of The Hangover from a man being shot dead in cold blood. Also, John Goodman is playing the film€™s antagonist apparently in a similar way to government agent Kingsley from the sequel. These films don€™t need an antagonist. The plots are driven by the Wolfpack€™s actions while drunk and Alan€™s stupidity. It looks like this film will not only give them an enemy to fight but see them dropped into a lot of heavy situations involving murder and gang wars. Which is deviating a bit too much from the outlandish comedy that the series is known for.
