6. Chapter 2 - Son of a Gun

The so-called "young stranger" (as QT puts it himself) is a hillbilly southerner called Chris Mannix, the son of a renegade who runs a gang called Mannix's Marauders. Mannix claims that he's the new Sheriff in Red Rock, and needs a lift there so that everyone can get paid for their various bounties. Uneasily, Ruth agrees to the logic, but uncuffs Warren in order to afford him some protection in case Mannix is a liar. We then learn that there's a 30,000 dollar reward on Warren's head in the South for burning a prison down and killing 47 soldiers, though not all of these victims were Confederates, some were prisoners on Warren's own side. Warren keeps quiet about it.
