10. Emily Browning
Given that she was twenty at the time of casting, much of the criticism surrounding the decision to have Jennifer Lawrence play Katniss stemmed from the belief that she was too old for the role. One of the other actresses in contention for the part, however, was a full two years older at twenty-two Australian Emily Browning. Beginning her career at the age of eight, Browning had roles in a series of features in her native country before taking a major part in A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Hollywood adaptation of Lemony Snickets literary series. A six-year period in which she only appeared in four films followed, during which she turned down the opportunity to audition for the role of Bella Swan in Twilight despite being invited to do so by author Stephanie Meyer. The lead role in Zack Snyders overly sexual Sucker Punch brought her back into the publics attention in 2011, but little has followed since for the now twenty-four year old from Down Under.
