The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Remake: 13 Actors Who Should Be Cast
12. Iwan Rheon - Raffles
Given that Suicide Squad is likely to do well for Warner Bros, it's inevitable that The League would concentrate on some more of their anti-hero members, and AJ Raffles - the gentleman thug - is as close to a Suicide Squad member as Alan Moore ever wrote.
He's charismatic, an anti-hero who is very much the antithesis of Sherlock Holmes, and there's something quite Bondian about his mix of sensibilities and roguishness. Plus it's always nice to have something of a wildcard involved, which the first League film did get right (their version of The Invisible Man basically stole elements of Raffles). He's only there because of blackmail after his secrets are uncovered and that represents an opportunity for a charismatic cad of an actor to have fun with him.
Who Should Play Him?
Iwan Rheon. Yes, he's making a name for himself on Game Of Thrones as a massive d*ck, but there's something perversely likeable about him. If he can do that with a character as unforgivable as Ramsay Snow, imagine what he could do with Raffles (even if it would require a dramatic change to his age).
And casting him as The Invisible Man would be too simple after he already basically played him in Misfits.
