The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Remake: 13 Actors Who Should Be Cast

Despite the fairly firm assertion that only the core team should be focused on, there's an uneven sex bias in the League (they're Gentlemen, but that doesn't mean they actually have to all be men) and an easy way to address that would be to include Captain Nemo's daughter, Janni Dakkar.

But more than just tokenism, Dakkar is a compelling character whose story does deserve telling. Her backstory is based on that of Pirate Jenny, who takes revenge on her town for their mistreatment of her by having them all killed by pirates. Admittedly it would be dangerous to use Dakkar's own rape trauma as an obligatory narrative beat (that hasn't gone unpunished in Game Of Thrones, after all), but adapting the vengeful spirit of the story would make her an interesting figure.

And of course, she has spin-off potential, since that's exactly what happened in the comics.

Who Should Play Her?

Deepika Padukone: perhaps not a familiar name for mainstream Hollywood film fans, but she's big business in Bollywood, and it's about time there was more cross-over between the two giant markets.

She's most commonly known for comedy roles, but her dramatic ability has merited awards in the past, and she's more than capable of playing this sort of character.
