The Little Mermaid: 8 PERFECT Choices To Complete The Cast
2. Eva Green As Ursula’s Human Form
Considering the animated Ursula bears no resemblance to her octopus form when she steals Ariel’s voice and transforms into a human (Vanessa), Disney will likely have to cast someone else as her human form for the live action remake. Of course, if Ginger Minj plays the regular Ursula, this will count double.
Though there are some drag queens who do female illusion very well (Farrah Moan is probably RPDR’s best ever at this), Ginger Minj’s brand has never really included this, so she’d be a terrible pick as the human version, despite being a potentially amazing octopus Ursula. Ironically enough, in the drag vernacular queens who sell the feminine illusion are known as ‘fishy’, but go figure.
The Vanessa Ursula is a sultry woman with dark hair, misty blue eyes and an angular face; enter Eva Green.
Fresh off giving one of the better performances in Dumbo, Disney have surely got to be looking her way. Her skills at playing the femme fatale are almost unrivalled, but the only drawback is that aged 39 she’s significantly older than Halle Bailey’s 19, which could cause difficulties pitching them as rivals for Eric.
Emma Roberts could be a decent, more age appropriate alternate.
