The Lord Of The Rings: 10 Best Characters NOT In The Fellowship
6. Elrond
The lord of Rivendell and played by a captivating Hugo Weaving, Elrond was a wise and proud elf lord who was instrumental in assembling the Fellowship of the Ring. Distrustful of men and overprotective of his daughter Arwen, he would often attempt to dissuade her affections for Aragorn before eventually relenting and allowing her to marry him.
Elrond appears in all three films but his best moment is seeing him in the opening battle of the first film against Sauron as the Last Alliance of Elves and Men attempt to overthrow the Dark Lord for good. He was also present when Isildur refused to cast the One Ring into the fires of Mordor which in turn created the chain of events that led to Frodo becoming the ring-bearer.
This kind of past allows for Elrond to be fully aware of Sauron's might while also having a semblance of regret for letting Isildur go. Elrond's past weighs heavily on him and he is a serious character, but one that will do what has to be done in order to beat Sauron forever.
