The Lord Of The Rings: 10 Most Powerful Swords In Middle-Earth
5. Ringil
It's time now to discuss the first sword on this list not to have made an appearance in the Peter Jackson trilogy. This mighty weapon spent its time way back in the days of The Silmarillion, well before The War of the Ring, so it's no surprise Jackson never covered it. Still, keep an eye out for it, as there's always a chance it will show up in Amazon Prime's new series.
Ringil was a sword used by The High King of the Ñoldor known as Fingolfin, and it played a massive part in the early days of Middle-Earth. Described as an Elven blade that bit with a chilling cold, the sword was a vital weapon used in the fight against the first Dark Lord, Morgoth.
The battle against this primordial evil was intense and seemingly never-ending, but one major victory against him came after Fingolfin managed to wound him seven times with the sword before succumbing to the Dark Lord's might. In his final moments, Fingolfin used Ringil to strike at Morgoth's foot, leaving him with a permanent limp.
This sword's long-lasting damage dealt upon the terrifying scourge of The First Age shows how much power it held.
