The Making Of The MCU: 17 Fascinating Behind-The-Scenes Details You Need To Know
2. Marvel Studios Intentionally Doesn't Explain Certain Things
While there are many unanswered questions in the MCU, it's rare that this ever causes frustration for viewers.
You're never sat watching one of these movies going "well that doesn't make sense, and that doesn't make sense, and what the hell does that mean?" - you instantly buy into the characters and the world, and it's easy to sit back and enjoy the ride.
As it turns out, the decision to not over-explain things and bog the movies down with exposition is a conscious choice that Marvel Studios makes with each project. Instead, the filmmakers focus on making the characters, the world, the emotion, and the humour stand out, rather than worrying about explaining every tiny detail, like how Tony's nanotech suit works, or the magic spells in Doctor Strange.
Speaking of Doctor Strange, this was a realisation Marvel Studios came to while working on that first movie, as a passage from the book explains:
"The Doctor Strange team realised that the less they explained and the more they focused on the characters, the humour, and streamlining exactly what Kaecilius was up to - including the bargain he made with Dormammu - the more the audience understood it."
Feige added that as long as the "foundational structures" are firm, then there's a good chance the movie will work, and audiences will likely respond to it.
You know what they say: if you're explaining, you're losing.
