The Mandalorian: 5 Actors Who Could Play Thrawn

4. Richard E. Grant

Here’s a bit of a wild card, but not because Richard E Grant would not be another perfect fit for the role - quite the opposite. The reason it’s a little unlikely is because Grant has already appeared in the Star Wars live-action franchise as Allegiant General Pryde in The Rise of Skywalker.

His character effectively replaced what General Hux should have been (which was still such a massive disservice to Domhnall Gleeson), and despite only appearing in that one film, proved that he should have been brought in to the Star Wars franchise much sooner.

After it was announced that he would be playing a part in The Rise of Skywalker, the internet was rife with speculation and rumours that Grant was already being brought in as Thrawn.

Sadly this was not the case, but it’s hard to argue that Grant wouldn’t be able to do the role justice, in both voice and appearance. Plus, it’s not the first time that an actor has played multiple roles in the franchise, with Warwick Davis just one actor to do so.
