The Mummy 1999 Vs The Mummy 2017: Which Is Better?

1. Overall

The Mummy Brendan Fraser John Hannah
Paramount

Not much needs to be said here: of these twelve areas, the 1999 movie came out on top nine times, leaving the Tom Cruise-led effort with just three victories.

It shouldn't really surprise anyone who saw the new movie for themselves or just looked at the critical consensus, but indeed, for all of the unfortunate turns Brendan Fraser's career has taken as of late, at least he can hold his head high knowing that his near-20-year-old movie is, to an entire generation, the definitive Mummy, and not even Tom Cruise's star power can change that.

Winner: A wildly unnecessary reboot isn't as good as its predecessor...which also happens to be a reboot (before the term "reboot" was in fashion, though). Shocker.

Did Tom Cruise's The Mummy manage to dethrone the 1999 classic? Shout it out in the comments!
