4. The Movie Originally Included Warlock

No, not Adam Warlock. The New Mutants' Warlock is a member of the Technarchy race, and a member of this team in the comics. He is considered a mutant because he can experience emotions, and a lot of fans were definitely disappointed when it became clear he wouldn't have a role to play here.

The current roster is made up of Magik, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Mirage, and Sunspot, and Boone confirms that while Warlock won't appear in this instalment, there were, in fact, plans for him to play a role in an earlier draft. Unfortunately, it seems budgetary concerns meant that couldn't happen.

Actually, the original scripts for this had Warlock in it, and we had to take Warlock out to be able to make the movie because he was so expensive," the filmmaker reveals. This makes sense as this is a character who would have had to be an entirely CGI creation similar to Thanos or The Hulk.

It's a shame, of course, but if and when Marvel Studios eventually reboots The New Mutants, at least the inclusion of Warlock will help differentiate that from this one-off portrayal of the superhero team.
