2. It's Just Not Scary

Perhaps even a greater failure than the movie's dullness is that it's not remotely scary. Most of the mildly tense moments are quickly upended by either an annoying jump scare or a needless joke, ensuring the film never establishes the mood and atmosphere it needs to.

Unless you're a teenager new to horror movies, there's likely precious little here that'll have your heart rate rising above resting: it's all old-hat, generic, garden variety genre stock nonsense.

When a horror movie has you frequently yawning even during its more action-packed third act, you know it's really screwed things up.
