The Nun Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

1. The Extremely Lazy Ending

No spoilers here, but the ending to this movie is pretty much the laziest, most cynical and perfunctory thing they could've possibly done. If you think you know how The Nun ends already, you're probably right.

There's a very obvious direction and a very obvious corporate interest the end of the film needs to satisfy, so of course, The Nun never forgets that it's part of a franchise, and pays half-hearted tribute to The Conjuring movies with an arbitrary closing tag.

It remains to be seen whether or not the film will perform well enough to merit a sequel - one suspects yes - and though it doesn't directly set the table for The Nun 2, it wouldn't take much of a leap from this movie's ending to get it going.

So, The Nun is not a good movie, then. If you can stay awake throughout, though, there are a couple of meritorious elements worth noting...
