Quinn spends the majority of the movie teamed with a gang of mentally unstable war vets who proudly refer to themselves as "The Loonies." In addition to this being an obvious nod to them being "loony" as per their mental states, it's also surely intended to nod to the classic 1985 action-adventure movie The Goonies.

Though the two groups are obviously very different, they both have a down-on-their-luck, ragtag quality to them, though The Predator's team of terminally screwed-up former soldiers is certainly more deferential to p***y and gang-bang jokes.

Black came to Hollywood prominence in the 1980s, so it's certainly apt he'd craft an homage to that much-loved era of cinema.
