The Predator: 7 Biggest Overlooked Positives

4. It Largely Retains Alan Silvestri's Peerless Score

Like 2010’s Predators (which is oddly experiencing a resurgence in popularity right now), this reboot features numerous musical call-backs to the franchise progenitor. Composer Henry Jackman clearly reveres Alan Silvestri’s work on the original film and so lovingly sprinkles the motifs throughout this reboot. The benefits of this are twofold: as it's in keeping with the fan-servicing attitude of the movie, reminding you of why you fell in love with the series in the first place.

More importantly though, it also gives the action a suitably propulsive edge, one that is sadly absent from a lot of modern soundtracks. There’s certainly no competing with the intensity of that memorable theme, with its thunderous brass and unnerving staccato strings, so it just makes sense to preserve it.

Also, it’s simply refreshing to hear a classically orchestrated sound again, instead of another over-produced Hans Zimmer rip-off.
