The Predator: Ranking All Of The Alternate Endings

3. The Camouflage Predators Ending

As has been widely reported, The Predator went through some pretty substantial reshoots before making its way to cinemas, thanks to some less-than-kind test-screenings. In interviews afterward, Shane Black chalked this up to the fact that they had originally shot the climax of the film in broad daylight and that he felt it simply didn't work for a number of reasons, including the fact that he didn't think the creature effects worked as well when they were so exposed.

As Black put it;

"(Producers told us) If you want to do all this stuff with this much money, you probably want to shoot during the day because during the night would be prohibitive. And then to our chagrin, and I'll take... it's on me, when I saw the footage during the day, the climax of the movie... it doesn't look right. It doesn't look scary in the daytime."

With this change from daytime to nighttime though, partially due to the fact that the creative team simply didn't have the same funds they did for the first shoot, several narrative aspects were completely removed from the film to save money. These included things like the reveals of some more 'good-guy Predators' who had been being held in captivity for years and were released to help The Loonies defeat the upgraded Predator, as well as the reveal of further alien creature hybrids that mixed Predator genomes with other animals.

Art and various photos of all of this exist online and it all looks, at the very least, incredibly interesting so it is a bit of a shame we still haven't gotten to see this ending in full.
