The Rock: Every Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
16. San Andreas (2015)
Loving nicknamed "The Rock in a Hard Place" by its fans, San Andreas is a no-frills disaster flick which doesn't make the best use of Johnson's talents (he spends far too long sat in a chair, for instance), but an appealing supporting cast (especially Paul Giamatti, Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario) and a litany of high-quality destruction porn make it an efficient tentpole all the same.
The effects-driven mayhem is generously doled out throughout the film and keeps things interesting, even if it checks off the disaster movie cliches with an aggressive efficiency. Random a**hole stepdad character who gets an excessively violent death? Check (Ioan Gruffud is crushed to death by a shipping container). Random celebrity cameo? Check (Kylie freaking Minogue).
Grossing almost $500 million worldwide in spite of mixed reviews, a sequel is already on the cards with Johnson and most of the surviving supporting cast returning.
