The Simpsons: 10 Classic Episodes That Could Have Been Movies
8. Rosebud (Season 5, Episode 4)
Mr. Burns is often considered one of the best characters of The Simpsons, so it's a shame that The Simpsons Movie gives him so little screen time. Given his role in the show, he should've been one of the most prominent characters in the movie, but instead, he's given maybe two minutes of screen time the entire film. His loyal assistant Waylon Smithers suffered an even worst fate, only being given one line in a mid-credits scene.
However, had The Simpsons' writers wanted to make a movie all about Mr. Burns, Rosebud would've been a great contender. It's a fantastic episode that features Burns and Smithers going to hilarious lengths in order to retrieve Monty's teddy bear Bobo — which already makes for a great premise for a movie. Can you imagine the amount of hijinks Mr. Burns and Smithers could get themselves into just to retrieve a teddy bear?
More than that, this episode also manages to humanize Mr. Burns and show us a side to him that isn't all evil and greedy. There is so much potential in a Rosebud-type Simpsons movie to create funny situations for Burns as a villain while at the same time adding more character and history to him.
