The Simpsons: 10 Classic Episodes That Could Have Been Movies

3. Deep Space Homer (Season 5, Episode 15)

Homer goes to space.

Aren't those four words great enough to be an elevator pitch for a Simpsons movie? The episode Deep Space Homer already takes great advantage of this premise, giving us classic scenes such as Homer eating the levitating potato chips and news announcer Kent Brockman saying, "And I for one welcome our new insect overlords!"

Still, for such a great premise, The Simpsons' writers really should've been given more than 22 minutes, and had this premise been given the full movie treatment, this could've easily made for a classic Simpsons feature.

It's hard to believe many golden era episodes of The Simpsons are only up to 22 minutes, given how jam-packed they are with jokes and parodies and shenanigans. Deep Space Homer is one of those episodes, giving us so many solid scenes in such a short length of time.

Given how smart and creative the writing was during the show's golden age, there's little reason to believe Deep Space Homer wouldn't have made a great movie had they decide to make it a film instead of just an episode.
