The Simpsons: 10 Classic Episodes That Could Have Been Movies

2. Marge Vs. The Monorail (Season 4, Episode 12)

What is ANY positive Simpsons list without the episode Marge vs. the Monorail?

This episode is an absolute classic — just look up any "Best of the Simpsons" list and Marge vs. the Monorail is guaranteed to not only be there, but be at the top half of the list. It's everything we love about The Simpsons; fun musical numbers, great guest stars, and hilarious joke after hilarious joke. It's pure fun and joy in a Simpsons episode, which is why it would've made for an absolutely memorable Simpsons film.

This episode has got it all. There's parodies and references, funny one-liners, celebrity appearances, and a Monorail song that Simpsons fans still remember every lyric of. However, the real main event here is Lyle Lanley, the sweet-talking conman voiced exceptionally by the late Phil Hartman. He's such a great character (bolstered with such a great voice performance) that even when you know he's nothing but a cheat, you'll find it hard not to be swayed by him along with the rest of the town.

Lanley alone is deserving of a movie where he plays the villain, added to the fact that Marge vs. the Monorail has so many great gags crammed into its short running time, who knows how many more great gags we could've gotten had this been a movie instead?
