The Single Biggest Mistake Each Star Wars Movie Has Made

4. Return Of The Jedi - The Childish Tone

There's no doubt that this was most people's favourite of the Original Trilogy when they were younger, but as one grows older the cracks show more and more with each re-watch. Return of the Jedi is still good, and occasionally brilliant, but it lacks the power of the first two films and has the worst script of the Original Trilogy, mainly because the tone is so misguidedly childish and silly.

The long stretches on Endor with the Ewoks are occasionally fun but mostly annoying and goofy, while some of the scenes in Jabba the Hutt's palace are also rather odd too. There just isn't that much of a sense that the characters are in true danger throughout much of the film, especially since Boba Fett is taken down through a visually impaired man bumping into his jet-pack and a group of teddy bears defeat the Empire.

It's still a fun watch, but these days Return of the Jedi does just feel a bit naff. Honestly, it's not only the worst of the Original Trilogy, but it's worse than The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Rogue One (take your nostalgia out of the equation), although it's still better than the prequels.
