The Single Biggest Mistake Every James Bond Film Has Made

14. Moonraker: All The Ghastly Comedy

The Man With The Golden Gun Ending
United Artists

This is one of the all-time worst Bond films, although that term should be used loosely. It's less a Bond film, more a cringe-worthy, badly acted science-fiction comedy which is completely torpedoed by its focus on goofy jokes and ridiculous action, rather than true thrills or compelling characters.

Thanks to this, Moonraker is impossible to take seriously and to add insult to injury, the comedy isn't even funny. Things such as Bond driving a gondola through Venice and Jaws falling in love are just painful to watch for fans that enjoyed the more serious side of Bond.

Due to this entire film being too jokey and ridiculous to enjoy, it feels fair to call it the franchise's Batman and Robin moment. The terrible action sequences, intensely dull villain and dreadful performance from Lois Chiles as the Bond Girl don't help either.
