The Suicide Squad: Every Character Explained

9. King Shark

Suicide Squad Peacemaker
Warner Bros.

When fans thought they'd figured out that Steve Agee would be portraying King Shark in The Suicide Squad, James Gunn decided to throw a spanner in the works, by commenting on social media that the Guardians of the Galaxy actor wasn't quite playing who people thought he was.

With the confirmation that Agee will in fact be donning the motion capture suit for the movie, fans can continue with their excitement for a big screen version of King Shark. The villain has been a part of the Arrowverse, appearing in The Flash, but this will be his first cinematic appearance.

King Shark
DC Comics

Since his comics debut in 1994, Hawaii native Nanaue has jumped all over the DC landscape, battling against the likes of Superboy, Supergirl, and Aquaman. King Shark has all the powers you would expect of a half shark, half human, with regeneration thrown in for good measure.

The character has had two stints in the Suicide Squad in the past, with the second resulting in him devouring one of his teammates. Any of the squad in 2021 could fall victim to King Shark if he is rubbed the wrong way, and what a show of strength and reckless abandon it would be.

While the FanDome neglected to reveal who would be voicing King Shark, if it's not Taika Waititi, we riot.
