Starro The Suicide Squad
DC Comics

In 1982, DC Comics released a comic series that revolved around an anthropomorphised animal superheroes called Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew. Much like the Justice League, the Zoo Crew's first foe was none other than Starro.

The debut issue begins with Superman being teleported to a universe called Earth-C after coming into contact with a space laser. Superman teams up with the superheroes of this world, Captain Carrot, Fastback, Pig Iron, Rubberduck, Yankee Poodle, and Alley-Kat Abra to discover the source of the space laser.

After Superman learns the weapon came from Pluto in his universe, he travels back to his reality and ventures to the dwarf planet, only to be imprisoned in kryptonite chains by Starro. The Zoo Crew attempt to free Supes but are easily overpowered by the the malevolent Mother Star. After Superman tells the superheroes they can only defeat Starro if they work as a team, the Zoo Crew overpower him and free the Man of Steel.

Superman congratulates the team before flying back to his world and probably never telling anyone that a rabbit saved him from an evil starfish.
