The Suicide Squad Review: 9 Ups & 1 Down

1. It's The DCEU's Best Movie BY FAR

In case it isn't clear already, The Suicide Squad is without question the best of the 10 DCEU movies produced to date, and it's really not in any way close.

Long-suffering fans of DC can chalk this up as a win, that Warner Bros. got out of the way and just let a talented filmmaker deliver his vision free of interference or impediments.

It's also probably not a coincidence that it's so far divorced from the larger universe, again confirming that Warner Bros.' decision to pump the brakes on the interconnectedness of their DCEU movies in recent years has been an incredibly smart one.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the franchise, and whether we'll see Gunn return to the DCEU once again after he's filmed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but The Suicide Squad sets a tonal and aesthetic template more movies in the franchise could stand to follow.
