If you think you know what James Gunn's doing with this movie from the marketing alone, you probably don't.

It's not a spoiler to say that a large number of the film's decorated cast members doesn't make it to the end of the movie - or in some cases, anywhere close to the end - but Gunn also relishes toying with expectations and leaving the audience totally unsure of what's about to happen.

There are several "Holy s**t!" moments in the movie where, thanks to some slyly edited trailers and generally sneaky marketing, viewers will be left genuinely shocked at what they're watching.

And even beyond the unpredictability of who will live and who will die, Gunn's playful approach to risque comedy gags and stomach-churning violence ensures viewers are likely to be gasping and roaring with laughter on the regular.
