The Wolverine: 5 Big Blunders (But 5 Ways It Still Kicks Ass)

2. Viper Was Wasted

The Wolverine Viper was built up in the movie's advertising as being a menacing, tenacious adversary for Wolverine to face down, but in execution, she's actually a pretty disappointing baddie, largely because we don't really learn much about her. She introduces herself in much the same manner as in the trailer - "A chemist, capitalist..." - though doesn't really elaborate much, serving primarily as fodder for the plot, which eventually has her revealing the Silver Samurai, because otherwise, there would be nobody to segue viewers into the final battle. She's presented as a murderous badass from the outset, and then meets a curiously muted end when facing off against Yukio, where we never get to see the full extent of her powers, or the admittedly enticing nature of her skin shedding (even if the bald head looks super silly).
