The Worst Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

14. For Your Eyes Only - Blofeld's Death

The World Is Not Enough
EON Productions

For Your Eyes Only is an excellent Bond film, but interestingly enough it does have quite a few strikingly terrible scenes. There's Bibi Dahl trying to seduce Bond, the painfully dated identigraph scene and the ill-judged Margaret Thatcher cameo, but the pre-title sequence is the worst part.

This is probably the franchise's worst pre-title sequence. In it, a man (John Hollis, voiced by Robert Rietti) who is very clearly Blofeld (but is unnamed due to rights issues) uses a remote-control helicopter to try and kill Bond. This was something Bond could easily escape and this illogical plan makes Blofeld look like a complete idiot.

Worse still, when Bond inevitably gets the helicopter under control, he uses it to pick up Blofeld and drops him down a chimney to his death. This moment is played for laughs and therefore, Blofeld is turned into a complete joke. What a flippant and disrespectful way to treat the most iconic Bond villain of all time.

It's understandable that Eon wanted to conclude Blofeld's story, having been unable to bring him back properly due to the rights problems, but this wasn't the right way to do it at all.

This is one of the worst scenes in a great movie... well, ever.
