The Worst Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

13. The Man With The Golden Gun - Mary Goodnight Destroys The Base

The Man with the Golden Gun is a weak, albeit sometimes fun and hardly terrible, Bond film which suffers from its lack of memorable scenes - bad or good. There are a few standout bad scenes.

The worst part is main Bond Girl Mary Goodnight (Britt Ekland), who is portrayed as completely stupid in a way that is mostly mean-spirited and infuriating instead of funny, destroying main villain Francisco Scaramanga's big lair thanks to her incompetence.

First, she throws a henchman into a temperature control vat and causes the base to start falling apart, but that's not as egregious as the moment where she literally rear-ends a button and causes a laser to activate and nearly kill Bond.

All in all, this entire ending feels deeply sexist and desperately irritating. And yes, it was intended for comedy but even then, a Bond film's finale should be suspenseful and exciting, not just a big joke.

Some other contenders for the film's worst moment are JW Pepper's return, that idiotic Nick Nack fight scene on a boat and the innuendo-ridden ending - Bond: "She's just coming, Sir." Urgh!
