The Worst Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

1. Die Another Day - The Ice Palace Chase

The World Is Not Enough
MGM

Here we are: this chase scene from Die Another Day, one of the worst Bond films ever, is arguably the lowest of the low in terms of Bond scenes.

Being Die Another Day, this film is loaded with ghastly scenes. Bond somehow faking a cardiac arrest, the fencing club scene, the gene therapy twist and the terrible finale all suck too, yet this set-piece still firmly stands out firmly as the film's worst moment, as well as maybe the worst scene in any Bond film.

The directing sucks, the invisible car is preposterous, the CGI is risible (just look at that wave Bond surfs on at one point), the painfully overdone spectacle kills any semblance of tension and perhaps most of all, it represents the worst of James Bond as a franchise.

In this franchise's worst films, the biggest flaws have nearly always been the focus on gimmickry, silliness and overdone spectacle that overshadow the thrills, tension and escapism that made this one of the world's most loved film series. In this chase scene, it's like looking at all of James Bond's worst elements in one go... and it's bloody dreadful.

Looking on the bright side, the franchise course-corrected to its more current, grounded version after this movie and it's unlikely we'll get anything this unwatchable in a Bond film again. Well, let's hope not anyway.
