The Worst Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

16. Quantum Of Solace - Plane Chase

The World Is Not Enough
MGM/Columbia Pictures

Quantum of Solace, Daniel Craig's messy yet solid second outing as Bond, has many big action scenes despite its short length. The reason for this is that the film wasn't fully written before filming due to the Writer's Strike, so these set-pieces were a way to pad things out.

Most of these are fine (though very badly edited), but the plane chase scene in the film's second half is pretty terrible. The shaky-cam cinematography that plagued the rest of the film is at its very worst here and there's no logic to the sequence either.

While Bond and Camille (Olga Kurylenko), who is the film's main Bond Girl, are fleeing by air, a couple of Bolivian fighter aircraft come out of nowhere and attack their plane. Who sent these planes? Why would the Bolivian military be interested in two people that had pissed off some foreign businessman (Dominic Greene, the main villain)? How does Bond manage to defeat both of them in an old aircraft with no weapons?

Sure, he's Bond, but his survival and defeat of both aircraft feels completely improbable here. The whole chase scene is illogical, boring and the lowest point of this underrated Bond film.
