The Worst Part Of The 10 Best MCU Movies

4. The Worst Fake-Out Yet - Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Though Phase Four is running a close competition, Phase Two is still the worst in the MCU, featuring the underwhelming Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the downright awful Thor: The Dark World. It does however, feature one of the best Marvel Studios has ever released.

The Winter Soldier took a different direction and had a different tone to anything that came before it. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier felt like it tried to recapture some of the more gritty, grounded magic, but only proved how special the movie was to begin with.

To pick something out to criticise really is nitpicking, but if we’re being honest, there was absolutely no one watching that movie that could have truly believed Nick Fury was dead. This was supposed to spur on the heroes of the movie in a similar way to Coulson’s death in The Avengers, and add some emotion to proceedings, but in this it fell completely flat.

Nick Fury himself, particularly as portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, always felt like he had a decent amount of plot armour, so no one could truly buy his death. The reveal that he was still alive and that he slowed his heartbeat down on purpose just passed by without anything close to the kind of impact it was obviously designed to have.
