Thor: Ragnarok - 20 WTF Moments
6. Loki Betrays Again
You know what to expect with Loki - he will seek every opportunity for mischief if it serves his agenda to gain more power personally (and stick it to his brother in the process) - so it's not all that surprising when he once more betrays Thor to try and strand him on Sakaar.
But what does it really add to the story? It's a needless distraction designed solely to show that Loki's power of influence over his brother isn't what it used to be. That's good for Thor's arc, but it basically turns Marvel's best ever screen villain into a bit of a fool.
And then, when Loki comes back into the picture at the end, "leading" the rebellious Sakaarians to Asgard to rescue Thor and the Asgardians, his transgression is simply forgotten about. So while Thor is clever in evading the betrayal once, he lets his brother back in, knowing he's definitely going to do it again.
