Thor: Ragnarok Reviews - 12 Critical Reactions You Need To Know

11. Chris Hemsworth Gives His Strongest Performance As Thor

"Hemsworth himself has never been more comfortable in the Odinson’s skin, Shakespearean hamminess having exited the stage with Alan Taylor’s stodgy sequel. His time on Ghostbusters and Vacation (however ill-advised) has clearly paid off, lending him a practised feel for comedy as he leans into the silliness with unerring skill." - Empire
"This is the most likable and interesting Thor has ever been. Hemsworth is given the chance to do what Hemsworth should have always been given the chance to do: be funny. But the script also makes sure that even the funniest one-liners Thor uses against Hulk or Loki are based on a development of their relationships that is often borderline painful when you realize what's actually being said." - Polygon
"Hemsworth continues his streak (both in the Marvel movies and in the “Ghostbusters” remake) as a daft performer who knows how to use his almost exaggeratedly perfect physical features as part of the joke...His comic rapport with Hiddleston, Ruffalo and especially Thompson goes a long way toward making the film such a screwball delight." - The Wrap

Though it's hard to imagine anyone else playing Thor at this point, Chris Hemsworth's never really had to do too much with the role beyond play the arrogant, aloof meathead, though Ragnarok thankfully gives him a good deal more to work with, resulting in his best portrayal to date.

Many critics highlighted that Taika Waititi has managed to bring the best out of Hemsworth, likely due to his more improvisational way of working, allowing Thor to be more plain fun than ever before.

And it certainly doesn't hurt that this has easily the best cast of any Thor film to date, so he gets plenty of terrific talents to work opposite.
