Thor: Ragnarok Reviews - 12 Critical Reactions You Need To Know
10. The Musical Score Is One Of The MCU's Best
"[It] embraces a deliberately ‘80s space opera aesthetic and synth score (composed by Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh, providing the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most distinctive original music yet)." - IGN
"A delightfully self-aware score by Mark Mothersbaugh [bolsters and exaggerates] the grandeur at every corner." - The Wrap
"The cinematography is enhanced by a groovy Mark Mothersbaugh score." - Gizmodo
One of the biggest general complaints about the MCU is that the film's musical scores are largely forgettable, and aside from Alan Silvestri's iconic Avengers theme, there's very little in the way of earworms that stick in the mind.
It's a pleasant surprise, then, to learn that Ragnarok not only employs classic pop-rock songs, but makes terrific use of Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh, who delivers a distinctive synth score that results in perhaps the MCU's most memorable soundscape yet.
Wait, an MCU score you might actually remember a week later? Impressive.
