The Avengers Selvig One of the subplots in Thor: The Dark World involves the insanity of one Dr. Erik Selvig, which we later learn has been brought on as a side effect of Loki having taken over his body during The Avengers and making him do a bunch of terrible things. At the start of The Dark World, Selvig is arrested by British police when he's found running around naked at Stonehenge, which is something that totally has to be seen to be believed. Later on, Selvig is put in a sort or retirement home/mental institution, only to be rescued by intern Darcy when she sees the footage of him going nuts on television. At this point, we're not entirely sure why or how Selvig has gone crazy, but the whole thing begins to make sense when he references the time he spent under Loki's control. "I had a God in my head," he says, as if to excuse his manic behaviour. And it's fair enough, really - that's a feeling that not many people are ever going to understand. Thankfully, he recovers just in time to aid Jane.
