Titanic: How It Should Be Re-Cast In 2021
5. Brock Lovett - Jovan Adepo
Many people look at the flash forward sequences of Titanic as surplus to requirement.
It's true that the modern day segments bring the pacing to a halt and set the film off to a slow start, but they're also critical, as they paint the idea that what you're watching is grounded in reality. Brock Lovett is at the centre of all that.
These segments really need to be carried by Brock, as he delivers a vital message about empathy in the movie. He starts as someone who is extremely passionate about the disaster but seems naïve to the human suffering of the event. Towards the end, however, he learns his lesson. So, you'd need someone reliable who isn't a distractingly well-known name.
Jovan Adepo would be a fantastic choice, as he could bring a sense of passion and quirkiness to the character. Plus, while Adepo has appeared in some great projects like Watchmen, The Stand, Fences and more, he's not a household name, meaning he could sink right into the role.
