Tom Holland's Movies Ranked Worst To Best
13. Locke
Locke is a film that should really rank higher on this list, because it's a truly excellent character study... for Tom Hardy. Locke follows Ivan Locke as he drives from Birmingham to London on the eve of an important concreting (something the film goes into some detail about). During this drive, he has more than thirty phone calls with his wife, another woman who is about to give birth to his child, his two sons, his boss, his assistant, his imaginary dead father and a host of others.
The thing about this film is that it is entirely Tom Hardy sitting in the front of his steering wheel, on the phone. It's a very powerful film, but one that only has the one performance. Our Tom (Holland) plays Eddie, one of Ivan's sons, who wants to update him on the football match that he's missing. Other powerhouse voices like Ruth Wilson, Andrew Scott and the acclaimed Olivia Coleman are all on the other end of the phone.
An excellent film, for a different Tom.
