Tom Selleck still hopeful for THREE MEN AND A BRIDE
As much as my inner childhood wants to see a new Ghostbusters revival, in truth I'm equally excited by the possibility of Three Men and A Bride. Originally scoffed at when Steve Guttenberg, whilst doing Pantomime in the U.K. of all things, first announced the movie 18 months ago (alongside a Police Academy 8 - so you can understand our knee-jerk suspicions) was a possibility, we've now come to learn that Disney are deadly serious about getting a third film in the Three Men and A... franchise off the ground. Disney have a script written (though we don't know who is responsible), they have the original trio Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson interested in returning. The only thing now is a greenlight and a director (surely if Leonard Nimoy can play Spock these days, he can return for what no doubt would be a fun gig) and I for one am thrilled. Tom Selleck spoke to MTV... Movie Trailers - Movies Blog Transcript from the interview;
"I hope its a good script, and if it is a good script I hope they do it, because it would be really fun to get back with Ted and Steve... ...I know they checked Teds and Steves, and then had a script written, I think tentatively called Three Men and a Bride, which kind of says it all ...Three Men and A Baby was the highest grossing movie of 1987, taking an astonishing $160 million in the U.S. alone. Released at the height of Guttenberg, Selleck and Danson's careers - the movie was a delight of quick-witted humour matched with great emotional sincerity. To me... it exists as a precursor to the kind of humour/emotion that Friends would later tap into and the sequel Three Men and A Little Lady wasn't too shabby either. It also happens to hold the title of being the first movie I ever cried at, but that's surely talk for another time.
