Tommy Lee Jones will star in an adaptation of the novel
In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead that was written by American author
James Lee Burke. He will be starring as Cajun detective Dave Robicheaux, a role that was last played over ten years ago by
Alec Baldwin in the instantly forgettable
Heaven's Prisoners. Veteran French filmmaker
Bertrand Tavernier will be directing. By my own research (it could be wrong), it's his first movie in the English language. More info from

The restless specters wait in the shadows for cajun cop Dave Robicheaux -- as he hunts a serial butcher who is preying on the less-then-innocent young. For these spirits are the guardians of Robicheaux's darkest torments -- and they hold the key to his ultimate salvation...or a final, fatal downfall. I've never been a fan of Tommy Lee Jones. Whether it's because he butchered my favourite Batman villain in
Batman Forever or because of that horrid
Volcano movie he led in the mid 90's I don't know. I mean sure he's done some fine work in
The Fugitive,
JFK and his performance (although the film sucked) in
Rules of Engagement was impressive. But they are few and far between. For every good role, there is at least 5 stinkers. source -
