Tomorrow Never Dies: 007 Reasons Why It's The Best James Bond Yet

004. David Arnold's Score

Arnold I'm sorry to say it, but Eric Serra's score to Goldeneye sucked. It was a general disaster that encapsulated the sound of its time all too well. (We'll argue about the theme song another day.) David Arnold, a relatively new composer, took over scoring duties for Tomorrow Never Dies, and I'm glad to say that his work is worth all of the fuss. Case in point: the track "Backseat Driver" is probably the best one on the film's soundtrack, as it manages to be a modern, electronic driven tune that still uses old school orchestral sensibilities and sound to create a viable mashup of the two palettes. David Arnold started to blip on our radars with Stargate, followed really quickly by his Independence Day score. Now with a Bond film under his belt, it'll be amazing to see what he does next with the score to this Summer's biggest film, Godzilla.
