Tomorrow Never Dies: 007 Reasons Why It's The Best James Bond Yet

005. The Bond Women Are Stronger Characters

Bond and Wai Lin Tomorrow Never Dies has not only one, but two strong female characters involved with its proceedings: Paris Carver and Wai Lin. The former is an ex-lover of Bond's who helps him gather intel in what exactly is going on. The latter is a Chinese agent every bit of Bond's equal, working to avert the same global catastrophe he is. Both are as beautiful as they are well written, and each plays an important part to the story. Paris is Bond's jilted ex-lover who remembers the words "I'll be right back" very begrudgingly. Nevertheless, her feelings aren't hurt enough to prevent her from making the fatal mistake of sleeping with Bond and warning him that her husband is a very dangerous man. Wai Lin, on the other hand, is much smarter and is a physical equal to Bond. Rebuffing his advances, the mission is her priority. Once the mission's completed, however, she falls to Bond's charms swimmingly. (Literally.) While they're both Bond girls, they're the strongest we've seen them be at any point in the series' already long history.
