8. Frequency
Type of time travel: Link to the past Mode of transport: A radio Not on many peoples top film lists, Frequency is the story of a young man who finds a way to contact his long dead father in the past through the radio and together they work to stop a serial killer. Although not necessarily travelling through time per se, there are many elements that make for a great time travel movie. This includes a fantastic sequence whereby Dennis Quaid hides a wallet with evidence on it under a floorboard only for it to miraculously appear in the present day. The film also explores the ideas of changing the past only to find that things have changed in the present in a way that no one could have predicted. But ultimately what makes Frequency work is that it is the story of a father and son finally bonding, across time and spaceparadoxes be damned.
