1. Pulp Fiction
It was tough deciding between these last two films and which one to put first. Maybe tomorrow I will look here and switch them in my head. Nevertheless, Pulp Fiction takes the edge here because it revolutionized film making in 1994 in a way Chinatown did not. Not necessarily the film itself, of course, but the techniques and the brilliance of Quentin Tarantino's cinema of the extremely cool. With an expansive and consistently powerful cast including Sam Jackson, John Travolta, and Bruce Willis, Pulp Fiction is a master doing his most masterful. The dialogue is rich and the LA nightlife is key throughout.
