8. Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger
Make no mistake; this is most certainly one of the more obscure entries on the list. Kudos to you as a British film fan if you recall the release of Nativity! back in the Winter of 2009 (lets be honest, it was probably swept up in the Avatar madness at the time for most people), but if you werent lucky enough to catch the charming festive sleeper hit, Ill bring you up to speed. Revolving around the attempts of a teacher - played by Martin Freeman- to help his school class make a Nativity play worthy of Hollywood fame, Nativity!s simple premise and lovely Brit cast (Alan Carr, Marc Wooton and many other unappreciated stars appeared) made it a beautiful little watch at the time of release. Three years on, and the team at BBC Films are bouncing back with a sequel featuring Doctor Whos David Tennant, Gavin & Staceys Joanna Page, Spaceds Jessica Hynes and Doc Martins Ian McNeice at its head, along with the same lovable cast of kids pitched on a new festive adventure together. Like the other Christmas release on this list of upcoming pieces of interest, this will most certainly warm the heart in the coldest of months, and what more can you really ask for near December 25th? If your answer to that question is "a big sprawling fantasy prequel", then hold on, Im getting there! Released on November 23rd.
